April is here and the year is flying by fast. I wanted to share a range of things I’ve been buying, eyeing and doing this Spring.
What I’m Buying…
The end of March and early April is typically when most brands run their friends + family promotions as these months are typically a slow period for retail purchases. I’ve definitely been taking advantage of the sales while I wrap up our clothing purchases for Europe. I shared my mood boards here and purchased many of the items that I was certain would sell quickly: the gap poplin set, the cage jelly shoes, and the red cat eye sunglasses! They were all fantastic IRL.
I’m done with all my own wardrobe looks for the trip so I’ve been turning my attention to Chris and the boys. This is what I’ve been ordering for them: chinos for Chris, raincoats for the boys and the most amazing garment dyed matching set for George. Chris and George have some special/dressy plans in London and George is going to look incredible in that set (I can’t wait to style him in it). I also ordered this for Chris to wear.
I’ve been playing the buy and return game for the color butter yellow this Spring. I’m finding that many of the items I’m ordering end up looking quite dull and muddy in real life. But I was thrilled when I ordered this and this as they are both very bright and happy buttery yellows. 10/10 recommend both those sweaters!
What I’m Eyeing…
I’ve been eyeing all the items I’ll need to make it a low key yet exciting Easter for the kids. My older boys are at that age where they think money is SO EXCITING so I was delighted when I found these funny money holders that say “Bruh” ~ which is all they currently call me and each other.
Overall, I’ve really been trying to scale back on expectations of gifts for the kids so I’m doing a formula of plushie, book, and candy for their baskets this year. I plan to add some thematic elements, like these egg bath bombs, but that’s about it. We are trying to transition the kids mindset into experiences > stuff. It’s hard for them some days but in the long run, I know it’s the right move.
You can shop the kids Easter basket’s here.
What I’m Doing…
We’ve just returned from 8 days in our home away from home: Leland MI. This was our second Spring Break spent up North and Chris and I continue to think it’s the best place for us for that break in the kids schedule. We’ve spent so many years traveling somewhere warm, where it’s typically insanely busy, very expensive and almost always includes a sick child. It started to feel like such a waste, so last year we agreed we’d just go chill out at the house in Michigan.
This year, since the boys now have a Winter Break and a Spring Break, we again decided to go to Michigan for the end of March. We didn’t plan anything until the 7 hour drive up, but we did an amazing job of balancing the week with fun activities for each of us and down time to rest.
I get homesick for this painting when I’m gone. You can find my mug here!

Spring Break Highlights included:
Swimming at Delamar’s indoor pool (a Daddy + older boys activity)
Lattes and reading/coloring at Outpost TC
Fresh flowers in the cottage
Date Nights with each older boy at Hop Lot Brewing and The Bay Theatre (we saw Snow White)
Dinners out at The Flying Noodle, Farm Club and Supper
Spending time with my Michigan friends
The view as you drive out of the local grocery store in Leland. I *always* stop take a picture and soak up the view.
My friend Katherine's dining room table is sparking palette inspo for my wardrobe.
Dinner with girlfriends immediately refilled my proverbial cup. We ate at Supper.
One of my favorite looks of the trip mostly because of my new favorite silver earrings. Despite coming from England, the shipping cost is reasonable and they come fast!
And lastly, I just started a new meal plan yesterday and I have lots of thoughts. I’m following Dr. Rachel Paul's program and I’ve been so impressed with how streamlined it all is making it very easy to execute/stick with. Much more on this to come!
Talk soon xx
