I’ve got quite a jam packed next few months, which is requiring a lot of prep, so I’ve been spending an unusual amount of time on Pinterest. As a media consultant, I happen to know that the Pinterest algorithm is wicked smart and so I’ve been thoroughly grateful for all the incredible content it’s been showing me the last few weeks. So much so that I wanted to do a little round up of my favorites.
Pins inspiring my wardrobe:
I have been pinning a version of this outfit over and over. So much so that I decided to order this white maxi for summer.
Literally copying this look verbatim for Paris in June.
Decided that my tried and true suede Birkenstock Boston clogs will be my shoe of summer. The question is: taupe or white?? These images have me leaning towards taupe.
A vintage silk scarf for myself is at the top of my “must find” list in Paris. Love it as a warm weather replacement to my sweater over the shoulders styling trick. Plan to wear it just like this in the Fall with my blazers.
Pins Helping me Party Plan:
I’ve decided that despite going to Europe for my 40th birthday, I’m still going to throw a party for it too. I won’t be with my parents for my actual birthday and with all their current health struggles - it feels like an important moment to pause and celebrate. My Mom and I have birthdays 10 days apart so we are throwing a cocktail party for all my friends and my parents friends. I absolutely love the image above from a Studio McGee outdoor event, and that’s been setting the tone for the decor.
This is the floral direction for the party. You can see the through line of blue and white in all my images. Clearly responding to the those colors this season.
Pins inspiring my photography direction:
Shortly after we are back from Europe, we have our annual family photos scheduled in Leland. The shoot is with one of our favorite photographers, Jessie Zevalkink. She nailed Chris’ 40th birthday photoshoot in 2023 and I’m very excited to be teaming up again.
I have found that if I gather images of what I have in mind for the shoot, it helps both me and the photographer understand the creative direction. This shoot in particular is to memorialize the summer I turned 40 so I’m looking for specific images that center around mom + children in a beach setting.
Love this one so much, feels very natural pose for me + Fe
This photo is one I plan to recreate in Portugal for A Day with Kate.
I’ve been reading Julia & Thomas’s new Substack Trade Offs each week, and recently Thomas gave insight into how they achieve their golden backlit images. Now I’m obsessed with learning how to do it myself so I can shoot my content in a new way. This image is the North Star for achieving the look.
As always, you can find all these images and more on my Pinterest page.
